Water Warrior

The Internet of Things (IoT) describes a world where just about anything can be connected and communicate in an intelligent fashion—the physical world is becoming one big information system.

Water Warrior is a concept with that in mind. It introduces a smart water system that connects individual water consuming devices to your smart phone, allowing the user to track their water consumption specifically by its source.

Using this technology, Water Warrior will notify you when you're reaching your usage limit as well as when you have surpassed your daily, weekly, and yearly averages—allowing you to adjust your behavior accordingly.

Process

There are a plethora of things we can integrate into the IoT network. But what things would users find useful, simple, and not more work than it's worth? We sought out to research and conceptualize what products we could create to help utilize IoT to make our users' lives easier.

We thought of many ideas, but settled between smart diapers, smart chairs, and smart water systems. With these ideas in mind, we performed user research and concept validations, and discovered that users are most interested in smart water systems, especially with California's drought in mind.

Having made this discovery, we decided to push this concept forward and define our target audience as primarily young adults or homeowners who wish to play their part in conserving water. In order to help our users save water, we had to provide them a way to track their water usage, specifically by each device's respective usage, in a way that's easily consumable.
